Senior Public Health Nutritionist
Health and Wellbeing Unit, Preventive Health Branch, Prevention Division, Department of Health.
Comprising salary between $99,205 – $106,750.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (Full time, temporary for 12 months. Applications will remain current for 12 months)

The Prevention Division delivers policies, programs, services and regulatory functions that aim to improve the health of the Queensland population by promoting and protecting health and wellbeing, detecting and preventing disease and injury; and supporting high quality health care service delivery. The Preventive Health Branch provides expertise, leadership and innovation to improve policy, systems, research, programs and services to encourage behaviours and create environments that are supportive of health.
Reporting to the Manager, Health and Wellbeing Unit, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of innovative and multi-focussed public health nutrition strategies addressing current and future preventive health priorities for Queensland. You will provide high quality public health nutrition advice and support to a state-wide range of internal and external stakeholders and make vital evidence based decisions to solve complex problems relating to public health nutrition and food regulation. Building effective and diverse relationships and preparing complex project and strategy documentation to promote public health outcomes will also be a key focus of the role.
The successful person:
You will be a strategic critical thinker, with demonstrable high level expertise in public health nutrition, ideally with additional experience in food regulation. You will be able to illustrate your ability to apply contemporary practice and evidence based approaches to achieve project outcomes and develop innovative preventive solutions to complex public health nutrition issues. You will be a capable and influential communicator, able to provide quality authoritative verbal and written advice and build sustainable relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and convey complex information to effectively inform nutrition policy and planning. You will be tertiary qualified in Human Nutrition Science and/or Dietetics, and related post-graduate qualifications would be highly regarded.
